Objectives Provide psychosocial support and counseling services to survivors of gender-based violence (GBV), ensuring emotional recovery, resilience building, and effective referral to specialized services.
Scope of Work & Key Responsibilities
- Counseling & Assessment: Conduct intake assessments to identify needs, create tailored support plans, and deliver individual and group counseling sessions for GBV survivors.
- Community Engagement: Facilitate support groups, lead community-based psychosocial activities, and run awareness sessions on mental health, coping strategies, and GBV prevention.
- Referrals & Capacity Building: Strengthen referral pathways to health, legal, and protection services, and train community mobilizers and case workers on psychosocial support.
- Documentation: Ensure confidential documentation of counseling sessions, case follow-ups, and community activities.
Key Deliverables
- Monthly reporting on counseling sessions and psychosocial activities.
- Up-to-date case files containing assessments, counseling notes, and follow-up actions.
- Documentation of group sessions and community awareness initiatives.
- Delivery of training sessions for staff and community mobilizers.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Degree or Diploma in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of2–3years in psychosocial support, counseling, or GBV programming.
- Technical Skills: Knowledge of trauma-informed care and survivor-centered approaches, experience in individual/group counseling, and strong documentation and confidentiality practices.
- Soft Skills: Empathy, active listening, cultural sensitivity, and the ability to build trust and rapport with survivors.
- Languages: Fluency in Somali; working knowledge of English preferred.
