MSF is an independent humanitarian medical organization providing emergency medical aid to populationsin need. MSF Somalia mission is seeking a qualified person for the position below:
Job Title : SPECIALIZED TECHNICIAN
Work Location : GURIEL_SOMALIA
Start date : AS SOON AS POSSIBLE
Length of contract : Fixed term (1year) 100% with 3 to 6 months’ probation period.
Performing autonomously, specific complex / advanced installation, maintenance works and repairs depending on technician’s specialization (requiring special/qualifications/training), according to supervisor’s instructions and MSF standards and procedures, in order to ensure a proper functioning and maintenance of MSF equipment, installations and infrastructures
- Performing autonomously, all necessary complex / advanced installations, maintenance and repairs (i.e. requiring special qualifications/training), according to the supervisor’s instructions and executes any needed tests after any repair or maintenance. Including the following functions:
- Qualified Electrician
- Qualified Mechanic
- Biomed Technician
- Making suggestions regarding any repair or maintenance work needed in MSF electrical installations, equipment and/or vehicles and assisting logistics department for any relative work
- Managing the stock of consumable items, filling in the stock cards, carrying out physical stock inventories, executing orders necessary for renewing stock, avoiding any shortage.
- Responsible for the equipment and tools, including extinguishers, checking they are correctly and safely used, maintaining and renewing them when necessary and keeping the inventory updated.
- Keeping working area clean and
- Ensuring that all record sheets and books related to logistical maintenance are always Preparing needed reports before and after any repair or required maintenance.
- Immediately informing the line manager of any problems that arise in the course of the work, particularly with regard to damage, loss, theft or attempted break-ins
- Working in collaboration with other specialised technicians and workers, if necessary, or managing a small team of workers.
Electrical Systems and Wiring
- Carry out electrical installations, wiring, repairs, troubleshooting, and preventive
- Inspect electrical systems, distribution boards, lighting, sockets, and other electrical
- Identify electrical faults and ensure timely corrective
- Ensure electrical installations are carried out safely and according to applicable Inventory Management.
Biomedical Equipment maintenance and installation
- Carry out basic installation, inspection, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting of biomedical equipments in the
- Monitor the condition and functionality of biomedical equipments and report technical
- Coordinate with the medical team when specialized repairs are
- Maintain records of equipment maintenance and Generator Maintenance and Fuel Management
- Carry out routine inspection and preventive maintenance of
- Monitor generator performance and identify technical faults requiring
- Follow up on generator servicing, repairs, and replacement of spare
- Monitor and record generator fuel consumption and operating
- Report abnormal fuel consumption or generator performance Air-Conditioning units repiar and maintenance
- Carry out installation, inspection, preventive maintenance, and basic repair of air-conditioning
- Monitor the performance and condition of AC units and identify
- Ensure AC units are properly maintained, cleaned, and operating Asset and Inventory Management
- Maintain accurate records and inventory of technical equipment, tools, and spare
- Monitor the condition and availability of assets and promptly report any loss, damage, or
- Ensure proper storage and use of tools, equipment, and spare
- Support regular physical inventory checks and update maintenance General Maintenance and Technical Support
- Conduct regular inspections of technical installations and identify maintenance
- Respond promptly to technical breakdowns and carry out necessary
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment
- Ensure all maintenance activities are conducted safely and in accordance with organizational
Safety and Compliance

- Ability to work in a hospital environment and perform technical maintenance activities in different areas of the facility.
- Ability to lift, carry, and move heavy items
Standing, walking, and climbing ladders for extended periods.
Education § Essential: 3 years diploma in related technical field. Bachelor degree in relevant studies is desirable.
Experience § Essential : previous working experience of at least two years in relevant jobs with INGOs
§ Desirable experience in MSF.
