Position Overview

The GBV Skilled Nurse / Health Officer will provide survivor-centered medical care to individuals affected by Gender-Based Violence (GBV). The primary objective is to deliver timely, compassionate treatment while maintaining strict confidentiality, dignity, and effective links to specialized support networks.

Key Responsibilities & Scope of Work

- Clinical Care: Provide post-rape care, emergency contraception, Post-Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP), and treatment for physical injuries.

- Case Documentation: Maintain accurate, highly confidential medical records and clinical case documentation.

- Referral Systems: Support and strengthen referral pathways to hospitals, psychosocial support, and legal services in coordination with local health authorities and partners.

- Community Engagement: Conduct health awareness sessions within target communities and at the One-Stop Center in Jowhar.

- Program Oversight: Plan and oversee clinical health activities across mobile teams, health clinics, and the One-Stop Center.

- Monitoring & Reporting: Monitor health service delivery, log GBV-related medical cases, and compile regular performance metrics.

Key Deliverables

- Monthly medical service reports covering treated cases and referrals made.

- Up-to-date patient medical records and an active referral pathway directory.

- Fully documented community awareness and health education sessions.

- Consistent delivery of confidential, respectful, and survivor-centered care across all touchpoints.

Qualifications & Experience Requirements

- Education: Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, Midwifery, or a related clinical field.

- Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of clinical practice, with preferred experience in GBV response, sexual/reproductive health, or humanitarian emergency settings.

- Technical Competencies:

o In-depth understanding of survivor-centered medical protocols and GBV case management.

o Demonstrated proficiency in clinical management of rape, administering PEP, and emergency contraception.

o Rigorous approach to data protection, record-keeping, and survivor confidentiality.

- Soft Skills: Deep empathy, discretion, exceptional communication skills, and a survivor-centered mindset.

- Language Requirements: Fluency in Somali is required; working knowledge of English is highly preferred.
